An interesting and revealing conversation with Jennifer Sertl about the Professional Attention Token. When I shared this site with her a fortnight ago, she lost a night’s sleep pondering the possibilities. Jennifer sees this as a way to make clear to a person their value – because the only way to be able to sell your services via a PAT is to know the value of what you’re offering.
That struck me as an important insight; the most significant part of this whole project thus far has been the construction of a detailed biography page – something that I had been meaning to do (and had been asked to do) for years, but which I never felt comfortable working on, until this project. Because the PAT makes it necessary to be absolutely clear what your value is to the buyer of the token. The process also reveals the values you hold. So it’s an X-ray of both value and values.
